Teak Brown is a warm, wood-toned brown enamel that gives doors, window frames and furniture a look close to natural teak.
It's a popular way to refresh old wooden doors and frames when polishing isn't practical.
It goes well with cream, beige and white walls, and helps mismatched wooden items — doors, frames and cupboards — look like a set again. It's also used on metal doors made to look like wood.
Remove rust, old flaking paint and grease, then sand the surface lightly. Apply a suitable primer — red oxide or zinc chromate for iron, wood primer for wood. Brush on two thin coats of enamel, thinning with mineral turpentine as directed on the tin, and let the first coat dry fully before the second.
Recommended primer: Red oxide or zinc chromate primer on iron; wood primer on wood.
It gives a solid, glossy wood-tone colour, not the see-through grain of polish. It's a practical, low-maintenance option for old or patched wood where polish wouldn't look even.
Yes. Synthetic enamel is made for iron and wood, indoors and outdoors. For gates and grills, remove rust and apply a metal primer first so the Teak Brown topcoat lasts longer.
Enamel is oil-based, so it's thinned with mineral turpentine, not water. Follow the thinning ratio printed on the tin, and clean your brushes with turpentine afterwards.
